Volunteer Spotlight

Mike Miller

What do you enjoy most about volunteering?
It’s about the love and happiness and also the understanding I can give to each and every resident I have contact with here at Felician Village.

Can you share a memorable moment or experience from your time as a volunteer?
This happened just several weeks ago when I brought residents down to listen to live music. I always dance with the ladies. This day there was this one particular lady that I had never seen before and I asked her to dance. She said yes, then started crying. I asked her why she was crying. She replied, “I miss home so much but then I meet someone like you and it makes things easier.” That’s when I knew I was making life better for residents.

How has volunteering impacted your life?
It truly has helped me become a better person knowing the positive impact I have on the residents at Felician Village.

What motivates you to continue giving your time?
The positive effect I have on the residents of Felician Village. Just ask any of them or their families.

What’s a fun fact about you most people don’t know?
I love to beach comb at the waters of Lake Michigan and, most of all, at the ocean. It’s amazing the things you can find at the beach. Especially seashells by the ocean.

If someone was hesitant to volunteer at Felician Village, what would you tell them?
I would tell them to contact Lauren Daun, Volunteer Supervisor at Felician Village. She is a wonderful and knowledgeable lady, easy to talk to, and helpful. Even if you are not sure what kind of volunteering you would like to do, there are many options available to you. And if you volunteer you will become a better person.

Thank you for making a difference in the lives of others at Felician Village!
